Goodrich to Showcase Advanced Defense Technology at AAAA Show

CHARLOTTE, N.C., April 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Goodrich Corporation (NYSE: GR) will showcase a broad array of advanced military technology at next week's 2011 Army Aviation Association of America (AAAA) annual forum and exposition, taking place April 17-20 at the Gaylord Opryland Convention Center in Nashville, Tenn.

Goodrich (booth 218) will display its VIGOR® health and usage management systems (HUMS) for midsized U.S. and international military helicopter applications. VIGOR provides actionable aircraft usage data to flight line maintenance teams. The system can alert the user to take small corrective actions to prevent future costly maintenance; in addition, it advises of unavoidable future maintenance tasks so the user can plan and minimize operational impact.

Advanced laser warning systems enhance helicopter survivability by detecting rangefinders, target designators and beamrider laser-aided systems. Currently used on U.S. Army UH-60 Black Hawk and AH-64 Apache helicopters, these affordable systems provide visual and audio alerts to the helicopter crew through onboard avionics.

Shortwave infrared (SWIR) sensor systems as well as gyro-stabilized camera gimbals will be a key feature of the Goodrich exhibit. These intelligence systems provide helicopter crews and unmanned vehicles the ability to see through smoke, fog and dust in a very compact and lightweight package.

Goodrich will also display its mission data recording and debriefing systems. Designed for the warfighter, the digital debriefing system is scalable, highly flexible, and provides full situational awareness of any type of mission via simple mouse and keyboard commands. It replays three-dimensional depictions of missions via recorded cockpit video, to support review and analysis of both tactical aircraft missions and training sessions.

Advanced crew seating on display will include armored pilot and co-pilot seats, as well as the common crash resistant troop seat system (CCRTSS).  The innovative CCRTSS adjusts automatically to the occupant's weight (including gear), unlike traditional systems that require the occupant to enter his weight, as well as that of his gear – an often confusing or overlooked operation. Armored pilot and co-pilot helicopter seats are designed to defeat 30 caliber armor-piercing rounds in accordance with U.S. Army requirements.

In addition, Goodrich will showcase its ballistic-tolerant lightweight helicopter main drive shafts, internal and external mount rescue hoists, electronic engine controls, SmartProbe® air data systems, fully integrated ice detection and protection systems, fuel nozzles, and TERPROM® ground proximity warning systems.
