Event to highlight 2025 Pixel innovations, strategic partnerships, and commitment to a sustainable future through device repair
NEW YORK, Oct. 1, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Google, uBreakiFix by Asurion, and iFixit today announced collaboration on a special "Day of Education: Engineering our Products to Last Through Repairability" event on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Google's NYC Chelsea Flagship store. Aligning with International Repair Day, the event will bring together industry leaders, policymakers, and repair advocates to demonstrate Google's advancements in product longevity and repairability, particularly within its Pixel ecosystem.
The event will feature live repairability demonstrations, expert-led panels, and hands-on experiences designed to educate consumers, media, and legislators on the importance and accessibility of product repair. Google will highlight its collaborative approach with key partners uBreakiFix and iFixit, reinforcing its commitment to supporting both professional and Do-It-Yourself (DIY) repair solutions.
"For Google, repair is a core tenet of sustainability and has been a key consideration in our product design process from the beginning," said Steven Nickel, Director of Operations, Google. "This event is our commitment in action, demonstrating how we design for repair and partner with industry leaders like uBreakiFix and iFixit to give our customers the options they deserve, whether they choose to do it themselves or visit a professional."
A key focus of the event will be the repairability features of the latest devices within Pixel ecosystem, with live demonstrations showcasing common repairs on Pixel phones, Pixel Watch, and Pixel Buds. Attendees will gain insights into how Google's design choices make repairs more intuitive and how to access repair support via self-service resources or a professional repair network.
"Our partnership with Google enables millions of consumers to get their devices expertly repaired quickly and conveniently," said Dave Barbuto, CEO of uBreakiFix. "The 'Day of Education' is an excellent platform to share expertise from our nationwide network of certified technicians and demonstrate how professional repair supports product longevity and drives customer loyalty. We're proud to help power Google's vision for a more sustainable product lifecycle."
The event will underscore the importance of empowering consumers with access to resources to extend their product lifespan.
"Empowering individuals with the knowledge and tools to fix their own devices is at the heart of iFixit's mission," said Kyle Wiens, CEO of iFixit. "Google's commitment to designing for repairability and providing authentic parts and guides is a significant step forward for the industry. We're excited to demonstrate how easy and rewarding DIY repair can be, fostering a culture where products are truly made to last."
Further strengthening the "Right to Repair" dialogue, the agenda includes a panel discussion with repair advocates, legislators, and independent repairers to analyze the future of the repair movement and explore how consumers can help shape it.
