Governor John Hickenlooper to Receive Infrastructure Leader of the Year Award at the 10th North American Infrastructure Leadership Forum

WASHINGTON, Oct. 19, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- U.S. Gov. John Hickenlooper (D-Colorado), will receive the 2018 Infrastructure Leader of the Year Award at the tenth annual North American Infrastructure Leadership Forum in Dallas, Texas. Gov. Hickenlooper will also address the Forum as a keynote speaker on Wednesday, October 24, where he will highlight Colorado's approach to securing cumulative infrastructure investment and addresses bipartisan ambitions throughout the state.
During his time as Governor of Colorado and Mayor of the City and County of Denver, Hickenlooper has helped usher and allocate over $5.5 billion in infrastructure project funding, resulting in enhanced mobility, economic growth, and community alignment.
Accomplishments include:
- The U3 36 Express Lanes Project, the nation's first multimodal public-private partnership, augments the congested two-lane highway between Boulder and Denver. The improvements, initiated in 2016, allowed for the accommodation of high-occupancy vehicles (HOV) and Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), in addition to the installation of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) for tolling, transit and traveler information, and incident reporting.
- The I-25 North Express Lanes Project, which broke ground on September 10, is a multimodal investment to improve road safety and reliability for travelers and commuters in northern Colorado.
- Recent groundbreakings on three major highway projects along Colorado's Front Range Urban Corridor with an approximate total project value of $2 billion.
- The Central 70 Express Lanes Project, a complex public-private partnership that kicked off in August, will replace the crumbling 54-year-old viaduct along Interstate with a four-acre green "highway cap", serving as a reconnection point between the community of Elyria-Swansea and the rest of the city.
- The Denver Union Station Terminal redevelopment project, which utilized federal, state and local monies and significant private-sector participation, catalyzing the resurgence of Downtown (LoDo) Denver.

Jamey Barbas, Project Director for the Mario M. Cuomo Bridge at the NYSTA, will accept the award for Infrastructure Leader of the Year alongside Governor Hickenlooper.
More than 400 infrastructure leaders are expected for the tenth annual North American Infrastructure Leadership Frum honoring the top 100 strategic infrastructure projects in the region.
