Governor Kate Brown Proclaims March 2017 as Toastmasters Month in Oregon

PORTLAND, Ore., Feb. 27, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- District 7 Toastmasters serving Western Oregon and Southwest Washington, along with District 9 serving Northeastern Oregon, Eastern Washington and Idaho, have been recognized by Oregon Governor Kate Brown for their dedication to helping people develop essential communication and leadership skills.

Lindquist states, "The Governor's proclamation supports the mission of District 7, which is to build new clubs and support all clubs in achieving excellence. We are pleased to see an uptick in membership growth and new club starts this year. People ages 21 to 35 who want to propel their careers forward are joining our organization. Over the next couple of months, we anticipate chartering another 9 clubs to better serve more people in our communities. We anticipate a 5–8% increase in membership this fiscal year."

Part of District 7's success this year is due to its focus on members. District leaders created a series of online "how-to" webinars, in-person educational workshops and conferences staffed with top-notch keynote speakers and breakout session presenters to enhance the value of membership. Each month, outstanding members are recognized for their accomplishments in the District's best-of-class online magazine, Voices! A monthly recognition program rewards members who exemplify the mission of District 7 Toastmasters.

Lindquist joined Toastmasters International in 2009 and has earned the title of Distinguished Toastmaster, the group's highest educational award. She was elected as District Director for a one-year term beginning July 1, 2016. As District Director, she is responsible for administering and overseeing the district's day-to-day operations, finances and human resources.
