Governor Snyder Appoints John Kunitzer of Yeo & Yeo to Saginaw Valley State University Board of Control

SAGINAW, Mich., Sept. 17, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Gov. Rick Snyder appointed John M. Kunitzer, CPA, former chief executive officer of Yeo & Yeo CPAs and Business Consultants (www.yeoandyeo.com), to the Saginaw Valley State University (SVSU) Board of Control. The eight-person board is the governing body of the University. Board appointments are subject to confirmation by the state Senate, and board members serve eight-year terms.

Kunitzer, of Saginaw, was CEO of Yeo & Yeo for 15 years and currently serves as principal for the firm, providing accounting, tax and consulting services. He has spent 40 years with the firm. He has strong ties to Saginaw Valley State University -- he graduated from SVSU, served on its Board of Fellows, assisted in major fundraising campaigns, served on the search committee for a College of Business Dean and spoke at classes. In 2002 he received the Saginaw Valley State University Distinguished Alumni Award.

The SVSU Board of Control is the link between the University and the State of Michigan and meets six times per year. One of its priorities is to select the University's new president. The board assures the financial responsibility for all University funds, assures that the quality of education at the University is consistent with the institution's mission, supports the president's efforts to secure private, corporate, state and federal funds, and interprets the needs of the community and the state which are to be served by the University.   

His appointment was effective July 22, 2013.
