COLUMBUS, Ohio, Sept. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Grange Insurance Company announced that Ryan Michel will become the company's next Chief Executive Officer on Mar. 1, 2027, following John Ammendola's planned retirement after 12 years as CEO. Ammendola's esteemed career in the P&C insurance industry spans nearly 40 years with 16 years at Grange.
"We have been incredibly fortunate to have had John's steady leadership," said Marnette Perry, chair of the Grange Mutual Holding Company's board of directors. "John has been instrumental in propelling our transformation journey and ensuring the organization's ability to serve our policyholders well into the future. An enduring testament to John's leadership, we have navigated difficult challenges like the global pandemic, record inflation and seismic industry disruptions while growing profitably, further diversifying our business, and consistently maintaining our A.M. Best "A" (Excellent) rating. Equally important, John has built a truly one-of-a-kind inclusive culture that invests in the wellness and development of our people as well as the communities we serve. The Board and I thank John for his wise and courageous leadership and wish him all the best as he starts this new chapter in his life."
"We are excited to have Ryan step into the role of Chief Executive Officer next year," said Perry. "Over the past two years, Ryan has served Grange as Chief P&C Officer responsible for leading the company's property and casualty operations. In this role, he has been focused on a strategy of significant, profitable growth across both lines of our business. Ryan is an experienced CEO, having led Allstate Canada prior to joining Grange. During that time, he demonstrated his ability to lead an organization that invests in its people, agent partners, and community, while achieving exceptional business results. With his tremendous business acumen gained over 20 years in the industry and proven leadership abilities, Ryan is the right person to ensure our enterprise remains strong, stable, and dedicated to our mission and all those we serve."
