Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority and Lytx Recognized with 2015 Innovative Solutions Award for Safety
Lytx's Video-based Safety Solution Reduced GCRTA Collisions and Improved Safety
CLEVELAND and SAN DIEGO, Sept. 30, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA), along with safety solution partner Lytx®, is being recognized today with METRO Magazine's inaugural 2015 Innovative Solutions Award.
GCRTA and Lytx earned the Innovative Solutions Award in the Safety category for taking a proactive approach to increase operator safety while improving driving behavior and creating a safer experience for transit riders. The award was presented today at BusCon 2015 in Indianapolis.
GCRTA rolled out the Lytx DriveCam program fleet-wide in 2014 to help protect its operators, reduce costs associated with risky driving behaviors, and contribute to safer Cleveland roads. The Lytx DriveCam program is a video-based safety solution that identifies behaviors that have the highest likelihood of leading to a collision, and provides data-driven insights to focus coaching efforts on improving those behaviors.
During the past year, GCRTA saw 60 percent reduction in posted speed violations, 55 percent reduction in red light violations, and 53 percent improvement in seat belt compliance.
Operator acceptance was key in achieving these results, and the GCRTA team stayed in constant communication with ATU Local 268 and associated operators, before, during, and after the pilot.
