Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GWHCC) Announces its Second Annual Business Expo 'Leading the Way to Business Success'
March 16, 2011 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center
WASHINGTON, Feb. 1, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On March 16th, the Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GWHCC) will host its second annual business expo. The expo will once again bring together business leaders and decision makers from dynamic companies, corporations, embassies and prime contractors as well as federal and local government agencies in the Washington, D.C. metro area. The Chamber hopes to build on last year's successful expo, which brought together 75 exhibitors and more than 500 attendees, 300 of which were local business owners.
"We believe that Washington, D.C. offers great opportunities for international trade and this year we want to bring Latin American embassies to the business expo so the local business community can explore expanding their markets in a global way," affirmed Angela Franco, GWHCC President & CEO. "This Expo presents a great opportunity to connect with the booming Hispanic businesses in and around Washington, D.C."
Alejandra Castillo, National Deputy Director of the U.S. Department of Commerce's Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) expressed her support for the business expo. "Minority-owned businesses are the engines that help economic recovery. The MBDA is happy to support the GWHCC's efforts to showcase successful Hispanic businesses and foster the connections that help them grow."
As with last year's expo, the GWHCC is pleased to count on the support of District government leaders. "With this expo, the GWHCC is strengthening small and medium businesses by putting them in direct contact with potential local and global clients. Businesses will also be connected to local agencies to get information on certification, microloans, technical support and the many other important services the city offers," stated Kwame Brown, Chairman of the Council of the District of Columbia.
The GWHCC is collaborating on the event with several sponsors and participating agencies that serve the metropolitan area. Among the sponsors that have pledged their support to the expo, as of today, are Walmart, Verizon, Verizon Wireless, Verizon Business, State Farm Insurance, Fannie Mae, and Washington Convention and Sports Authority, as well as nonprofit organizations and government agencies that will be present at the expo once again.
