Javitt as a shareholder in the firm's Washington, D.C., office. She joins the firm from Hyman, Phelps & McNamara, P.C., bringing more than 30 years of experience in food and drug law and advising clients ranging from emerging companies to established industry leaders on U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulatory, compliance, and transactional matters.

Javitt counsels medical device, diagnostics, pharmaceutical, biological product, and human cellular and tissue-based product (HCT/P) companies on a wide range of regulatory issues involving product development and commercialization, including clinical trials, product approvals, post-market compliance, inspections, enforcement actions, and regulatory designations. She also advises clinical laboratories and genomic interpretation companies on the evolving legal and regulatory framework governing laboratory-developed tests. In addition, she has deep experience leading and assessing regulatory due diligence for buyers, sellers, and insurance underwriters in corporate transactions.

Her academic appointments have included roles at Johns Hopkins University's Berman Institute of Bioethics, Georgetown University Law Center, American University's Washington College of Law, and the University of Maryland School of Law. Earlier in her career, she served as law and policy director at Johns Hopkins University's Genetics and Public Policy Center, where she helped develop policy options to guide the responsible development and use of reproductive and other genetic technologies.
