LOS ANGELES, Sept. 2, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- David M. Herzog, a former Assistant U.S. Attorney in California and Washington, joined global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP as a Litigation Practice shareholder in the firm's Los Angeles office.
Herzog will focus his practice on complex commercial litigation, products liability and mass torts, class action defense, appeals, and trial work. He also will advise clients on government-related investigations, compliance, and government enforcement matters, drawing on his deep experience navigating federal prosecutorial priorities and overseeing litigation strategy.
"Dave is a seasoned trial and appellate lawyer whose career reflects a rare combination of leadership, courtroom experience, and strategic judgment," Greenberg Traurig Chief Executive Officer Brian L. Duffy said. "As companies continue to face increasingly sophisticated disputes and regulatory challenges, Dave's ability to manage sophisticated matters from investigation through trial and appeal will be an enormous asset to our clients and our firm."
Herzog previously served for more than 18 years with the U.S. Attorney's Offices in Los Angeles and Spokane, Washington, where he held numerous leadership roles, including Chief of Appeals, Deputy Criminal Chief, and Deputy Chief of the Violent and Organized Crimes Section. Throughout his public service career, he oversaw complex investigations, tried numerous federal cases, and briefed and argued dozens of matters before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He led investigations involving international and domestic human trafficking, organized crime, and other multijurisdictional matters where his work required coordinating large legal teams, managing troves of evidentiary records, and handling cases involving significant legal and factual complexity. Those skills translate directly to the demands of modern civil litigation, where clients increasingly face sprawling discovery, multidistrict proceedings, and high-stakes disputes.
"Dave's experience managing labyrinthine cases, leading legal teams, trying cases, and successfully handling matters on appeal aligns perfectly with the needs of our clients and our litigation platform," Los Angeles Co-Managing Shareholders Gregory A. Fishman and Barbara A. Jones said in a joint statement. "With a strong pipeline of matters heading toward trial and arbitration, Dave's experience building and defending cases at every stage will immediately strengthen our bench in Los Angeles and across the firm. He can leverage nearly two decades of federal litigation experience on behalf of corporate clients navigating high-stakes litigation and regulatory challenges."
"I am excited to join Greenberg Traurig and reconnect with excellent lawyers I have known and respected throughout my career," said Herzog, who previously worked with Daniell K. Newman in private practice, and with Thomas P. O'Brien and Ivy A. Wang at the U.S. Attorney's Office in Los Angeles. "The firm embodies outstanding talent and a collaborative culture supported by an incredible platform. For nearly two decades as a federal prosecutor, I developed case-management, trial, and appellate skills that I can now draw on to help clients navigate the challenges of litigation from the beginning of disputes to the very end."
Herzog earned his J.D., cum laude, from the Georgetown University Law Center; an M.Phil. from the University of Glasgow; and a B.A., summa cum laude, from Loyola Marymount University. He is admitted to practice law in California.
