WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., Aug. 21, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, P.A. Senior Chairman and Global Chairman of Professional Development and Integration Brad Kaufman has been named a finalist for the American Lawyer Industry Awards' Best Mentor recognition.
The award honors lawyers and professional staff who have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to mentoring and developing younger professionals throughout their careers, according to American Lawyer. Winners will be announced at the American Lawyer Industry Awards on Nov. 12 in New York City.
Kaufman has spent decades mentoring lawyers firmwide, helping guide their professional development and career advancement. As chairman of the firm's professional development and integration efforts, he helps lead associate conferences, summer associate programming, and professional development initiatives. Many of his mentees have advanced to leadership positions within the firm and throughout the legal profession.
"The level of loyalty people have to Brad is not like anything I've ever seen in the workplace, and it's because of the way he treats people," said Tracy L. Gerber, a mentee who has risen to become managing shareholder of the firm's West Palm Beach office, and co-chair of the firm's Broker-Dealer Securities Litigation Practice. "I feel like I owe my career to Brad."
A nationally recognized litigator and firm leader, Kaufman focuses his practice on securities litigation and regulatory actions. He has represented major broker/dealers, investment banks, and investment advisors before regulatory agencies, financial commissions, most of the Federal Circuit Courts in the United States, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
Throughout his career, he also has focused on mentoring younger lawyers and advocating for mentorship opportunities across the firm. After being diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2023, Kaufman returned to work wanting to do even more. Over the past year, he has traveled to Greenberg Traurig offices around the world to share his story and encourage the importance of mentorship. During each of his 18 stops, he encouraged lawyers and business staff to build meaningful connections, support one another, and approach challenges with resilience and optimism.
"After decades of constantly being on the go, I found myself suddenly with a lot of free time spent in hospitals and on my couch wondering if I would ever be able to positively contribute to anything or anyone. It was only then I concluded that I was still capable of doing little acts of kindness or even just acknowledging someone else's struggles and thereby have a positive impact on my organization and the people in my life," Kaufman said. "The effect of making a conscious effort to lift others has had the added benefit of greatly improving my own emotional well-being. That epiphany has enabled me to try and inspire others and bring a new perspective to my commitment to mentoring."
