Greengate Power Enters into Agreements with Vestas for Canada's Largest Wind Energy Project
CALGARY, June 9, 2011 /PRNewswire/ - Greengate Power Corporation ("Greengate"), through its wholly-owned subsidiaries Blackspring Ridge IA Wind Project LP and Blackspring Ridge IB Wind Project LP, has entered into turbine supply and long-term service and maintenance agreements with Vestas-Canadian Wind Technology, Inc. ("Vestas") for its 300 MW Blackspring Ridge I Wind Project ("Blackspring Ridge I").
Greengate is expecting to begin construction on Blackspring Ridge I in 2012, with a target commercial operation date of 2013. Upon completion, Blackspring Ridge I is expected to be Canada's largest operating wind energy project.
Under the terms of the turbine supply agreements, Vestas will supply 166 of its V90-1.8 MW wind turbines for Blackspring Ridge I. Deliveries are expected to commence in Q3 2012. Blackspring Ridge I is currently permitted by the Alberta Utilities Commission for this model of Vestas wind turbine.
Pursuant to the terms of the long-term service and maintenance agreements, Vestas will provide ten years of service and maintenance for Blackspring Ridge I at a predetermined cost. The scope of these agreements covers all scheduled and unscheduled service and maintenance relating to the Vestas wind turbines at Blackspring Ridge I.
