GreenStone Announces Board of Directors Election Results

EAST LANSING, Mich., July 2, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Members of GreenStone Farm Credit Services have elected four individuals to the cooperative's board of directors, including two new board members. Each member is elected to serve a three-year term. Additionally, a new director has been appointed in the cooperative's territory in northeast Wisconsin and Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

In voting Region I (northern Michigan), Ronald Lucas from Alpena County joins the board of directors, and incumbent Gilbert Ritter from Saginaw County was re-elected. Lucas brings 32 years of farming experience to the board. He currently runs a dairy operation with more than 500 head of cattle in Posen, Michigan. Ritter has served on the GreenStone board for 22 years, and has 44 years of farming experience. He is a lifelong cash crop farmer, and currently farms more than 900 acres with his son in Saginaw, Michigan.

In voting Region II (eastern Michigan), Thomas Durand from Sanilac County joins the board of directors while incumbent and board chairman Scott Roggenbuck from Huron County was re-elected. Durand has 37 years of farming experience and currently farms 1,300 acres of sugar beets, dry beans, wheat, corn and soybeans in Croswell, Michigan. Roggenbuck has served on GreenStone's board for six years, and has 30 years of farming experience. He currently farms corn, soybeans, wheat, dry beans and sugar beets with his two brothers and son in Harbor Beach, Michigan.

In voting Region VII (northeast Wisconsin and Michigan's Upper Peninsula) Matthew Berge from Manitowoc County was appointed to the board seat vacated earlier this year. Berge has 15 years of farming experience and currently operates an 875-head, 800-acre dairy farm in Valders, Wisconsin. He will serve the remaining term, which expires in 2015.

Additionally, GreenStone's member-owners also elected 16 individuals to serve on the cooperative's nominating committee. The nominating committee is comprised of GreenStone members from throughout the organization's territory who are tasked with recruiting candidates for the following year's board elections.

The 2014 nominating committee includes from voting Region I: Jack Terwillegar, Saginaw County; and Jeremy Werth, Alpena County; from Region II: Chris Grekowicz, Huron County; and David Thuemmel, Huron County; from Region III: Larry Bush, Lenawee County; Dennis Huehl, Washtenaw County; and Mark Kies, Hillsdale County; from Region IV: Lori Drozd, Allegan County; Roger Gentz, St. Joseph County; and Gail Peterson, Berrien County; from Region V: Todd Greiner, Oceana County; and Michael Rasmussen, Montcalm County; from Region VI: Jamie Demerly, Shiawassee County; and Jeff Sandborn, Ionia County; from Region VII: Wayne Bradley, Kewaunee County; and Henry Wagner, Shawano County.
