GridUnity Named Clean Energy Company of the Year by the Alliance for Climate Transition

Grid interconnection and planning software developer recognized for national impact and momentum

BOSTON, Oct. 13, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- GridUnity^® was named Clean Energy Company of the Year at the Energy Leadership Gala, hosted by the Alliance for Climate Transition (ACT) at the Boston Museum of Science. The award is given annually to a company that "has substantially impacted the region's clean energy industry and stands out from the crowd, having established itself as both an industry leader and market-maker."

It was a full-circle moment. GridUnity began in 2007 as a capstone project in ACT's Clean Energy Fellowship program, which recruited entrepreneurs from other sectors and prepared them to launch clean energy companies. CEO Brian Fitzsimons was a member of the first cohort. Since then, GridUnity has grown to serve utilities and system operators covering more than 60% of U.S. electricity users.

As the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and state utility commissions roll out requirements for faster time-to-power and responsible cost allocation, demand for proven compliance tools is growing. To meet it, GridUnity is investing an additional $100 million to accelerate development of the platform, supported by a $45 million matching grant from the U.S. Department of Energy.
