Grooveshark Powers Listen Local First

NEW YORK, Dec. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Grooveshark, the largest internationally available on-demand music streaming and discovery service, will power the streaming of local Washington, DC, artists inside businesses for Listen Local First DC. Launched in October, Listen Local First DC is a music initiative devoted to building awareness and creating opportunities for local musicians and venues in order to raise the profile of DC's music scene.

Listen Local First DC creates playlists for each metro area and streams the music in nearby businesses via Grooveshark on the specified local music day each month. December's Local Music Day will be Dec. 7, 2011. The artists agree to license their music for the businesses' use so that their music can be streamed throughout the day.
