PORTLAND, Ore., Aug. 16, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Dogs are just about as welcome in Portland pubs as is the GrowlerWerks uKeg, the pressurized growler that keeps beer fresh, cold and carbonated. And since beer -- especially beer to go -- is better with a best friend by your side, GrowlerWerks is donating 5 percent of its website sales in these dog days of summer to The Pixie Project. Woof!
The Pixie Project, located near GrowlerWerks in Portland, is a nonprofit animal adoption and rescue center that specializes in matchmaking animals with a perfect family for them -- and then keeping them comfortable there, despite a family's resources. Preventing the overpopulation of unwanted pets is another of The Pixie Project's goals, along with providing pet owner education, low-cost or free spay and neutering, and veterinary services for low-income and homeless pet owners. Visit www.pixieproject.org to learn more.
Being fans of shelter pups makes this a natural partnership for GrowlerWerks. Several of us have adopted our pets, and we love the opportunity to contribute to something that matters so much to our crew.
Our last giving opportunity came in April with Earth Day and was another natural fit for GrowlerWerks. Dedicating a portion of proceeds to the Portland chapter of the Surfrider Foundation allowed us to enhance our contribution to clean coastlines and outdoor spaces. With its Green Streets and Hold Onto Your Butt programs, as well as Plastic Pollution initiatives and its Blue Water Task Force monitoring program, the foundation focuses on keeping our waterways clean. Portland chapter meetings are at 7 p.m. on the second Tuesdays of the month, usually at Portland's SE Rogue Green Dragon. Meetings are open to all and are family friendly. More information and inspiration is available at portland.surfrider.org.
The uKeg itself is a way people can make it easier to protect our playgrounds. Our pressurized growler is a reusable container for the beer people bring with them to enjoy a special sunset or surf. And the uKeg is perfect for a hike with your best friend.
We'll continue to seek ways to heighten beer lovers' outdoor experiences, which is why the uKeg exists. It keeps beer fresh, cold and carbonated, like a brewer intended it, wherever you want to be.
