MEXICO CITY, Nov. 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Grupo Salinas, a group of dynamic companies founded by Mexican entrepreneur Ricardo B. Salinas, marked by rapid growth and cutting edge technology, and committed to the modernization of the countries in which they operate, is pleased to announce its sponsorship for the fifth consecutive year of the Ciudad de las Ideas, a thinkers' forum that brings together the brightest minds in the world.
This year, Grupo Salinas' participation will be on a larger scale and will reflect two very important aspects of its social commitment, namely, education and culture. Through Fundacion Azteca and Fomento Cultural Grupo Salinas, a presentation will be made that will show children's potential in the future of Mexico and their capacity to promote social changes that can create prosperity and better living conditions for all.
Ciudad de las Ideas will be held November 8-10 at the University Cultural Complex of the Autonomous University of Puebla. The theme for this year is "The Magic of If." This list of presenters includes Craig Venter, biologist and pioneer geneticist; Shirin Ebad, first Muslim woman to receive the Nobel Peace Prize; Lisa Randall, an expert in particle physics and cosmology; Paul Bloom, psychologist; Robert Trivers, evolutionary biologist, Eduardo Punset, economist and science writer; Jason Silva, biologist; and Peter Diamandis, founder of the X PRIZE Foundation.
Ciudad de las Ideas is organized by Poder Civico AC Power, under the curatorship of Dr. Andres Roemer, Grupo Salinas, and the government of the State of Puebla.
Broadcasts and coverage of the event will be through Azteca and Proyecto 40.
