RESTON, Va., Nov. 2, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- GTL, the leading provider of correctional technology solutions and an innovator in payment services solutions for government, today announced the release of an unlimited on-demand streaming music application for GTL's Inspire™ inmate tablet program. The subscription-based GTL Streaming Music Service provides inmates access to over 12 million tracks. With features like playlist creation and new artist discovery, inmates can listen to the songs they want, when they want. "Inmates are able to select the exact songs they want to listen to and save them to their profile," said Brian Peters, Executive Director of Inmate Applications and Hardware at GTL.
The GTL Streaming Music Service was designed specifically for the corrections environment. The music catalogue is curated for the corrections market – removing songs and song titles that have explicit lyrics. The inmate music app underwent several rounds of security testing to ensure it meets GTL's stringent security standards. Also, inmates have an opportunity to experience the service for free through a one-day free trial. "We understand this may be the first time some inmates experience a streaming music service. So we worked with the music labels to allow us to offer free one-day trials," added Mr. Peters.
GTL's Streaming Music Service is part of a line of services and applications provided through the GTL Inspire inmate handheld tablet program. Tablets may also be used for voice communication, sending and receiving messages, submitting requests and grievances, accessing education material, and playing games. "We believe that music adds an important pillar to our service offerings, improving morale, which translates into improved safety and security of a correctional facility," concluded Mr. Peters.
