Gunpowder & Sky Acquires Rights To "WHEN JEFF TRIED TO SAVE THE WORLD"
NEW YORK, Nov. 7, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Gunpowder & Sky, global content studio, has acquired the worldwide rights to WHEN JEFF TRIED TO SAVE THE WORLD, starring Jon Heder (NAPOLEON DYNAMITE), Maya Erskine (Man Seeking Woman), Jim O'Heir (NBC's Parks and Recreation), Brendan Meyer (The OA ), Anna Konkle (Rosewood), Steve Berg (Idiotsitter), and Candi Milo (Dexter's Laboratory). The film is directed by first-time filmmaker, Kendall Goldberg. WHEN JEFF TRIED TO SAVE THE WORLD will be distributed under the company's FilmBuff label, and will be available on all major VOD platforms including Amazon Video, FandangoNOW, Google Play, iTunes, Microsoft Movies & TV, PlayStation, Redbox on Demand and VUDU on December 7th.
WHEN JEFF TRIED TO SAVE THE WORLD follows Jeff (Heder), the manager of an old-school bowling alley called Winky's World, as he tries to save the community staple from its impending sale.
Goldberg co-wrote the script with Rachel Borgo. The film is produced by Goldberg, along with Shane Simmons, Jimmy Seargeant, and Sam Slater. The film recently won the FIPRESCI International Film Critics' Award for Best Directorial Debut at the Heartland Film Festival and Jon Heder won the Indie Vision Best Performance award at the Twin Cities Film Festival.

Kendall Goldberg
23-year-old LA-based filmmaker Kendall Goldberg graduated with a B.F.A. in Film Production from Chapman University's Dodge College of Film & Media Arts. She was honored with the Women of Chapman Endowed Filmmaker Grant and the Zonta Award to help make her thesis film, GLORIA TALKS FUNNY, which won Best Short Film at the BendFilm Fest. Her documentary short DEMPSEY THE DIABETIC SUPERHERO was a Semifinalist in the 44th Annual Student Academy Awards. Shane Simmons
Shane Simmons is a Chicago-based filmmaker and actor. He produced Stephen Cone's HENRY GAMBLE'S BIRTHDAY PARTY. Jimmy Seargeant
Jimmy Seargeant has worked in the entertainment industry as an actor and producer for the past 25 years. Most recently he produced the feature film HARD SELL, starring Kristin Chenoweth and Katrina Bowden. Jimmy has also worked as an Associate Producer on various series for the Discovery Channel, National Geographic and ABC, including A Traveller's Guide to the Planets for NatGeo. He has also coordinated two consecutive shows for 11Television LA.
