Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts Adds Dental Assistant Program to its San Mateo Campus

SAN MATEO, Calif., Nov. 18, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Gurnick Academy has added a new program to its San Mateo campus, the Dental Assistant program. The addition of the Dental Assistant program is approved by the California Department of Health and Accrediting Bureau for Health Education Schools (ABHES) and will be the 4^th Certification program offered by the campus.

The Dental Assistant program provides classroom theory, laboratory experience and clinical learning that teach students the skills to perform duties such as communication, problem solving, interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and professionalism soft skills that can only be acquired through real life experiences. The program emphasizes a strong focus on caring for patients with compassion.

"Gurnick will prepare the student with technical skills to work chair side with the dentist, as well as work in a detailed-oriented environment in the dental laboratory and business office. Once the Gurnick student acquires the clinical and administrative skills the student will be achieving several certifications including coronal polishing, 8 hour infection control, radiation safety and a certificate as a Dental Assistant."

Students who successfully complete the course will be eligible to sit for the State Certification exam. Passage of the certification exam will enable them to apply as a Registered Dental Assistant within California. From here, students can apply for positions in any dental office.
