HASCO Medical Subsidiary, Ride-Away, Participates in First National Mobility Awareness Month for Seniors, Veterans and People with Disabilities
MOBILE, Ala., March 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- HASCO Medical, Inc. (OTCBB: HASC), www.HascoMed.com a managed healthcare provider that serves patients in Alabama, Florida, and Mississippi, announced today that its subsidiary, Ride-Away, will be participating in the first National Mobility Awareness Month for Seniors, Veterans and People with Disabilities.
Last month at the 22nd Annual NMEDA Conference in Phoenix, Arizona, the National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association announced National Mobility Awareness Month, which will be celebrated throughout the U.S. and Canada in May 2012. The goal of the awareness month is to teach seniors, veterans and people with disabilities how to live an active, mobile lifestyle through the use of wheelchair accessible vehicles and adaptive mobility equipment.
As a NMEDA dealer, Ride-Away offers a full range of equipment and handicap accessible vehicles one would need to achieve a mobile lifestyle. Their product line includes hand controls, wheelchair and scooter lifts, mobility seating, wheelchair locking devices, and of course wheelchair accessible vans, trucks, and motorcycles.
In celebration of the awareness month, Ride-Away invites its community to take part in NMEDA's online contest. This contest will award three lucky winners customized wheelchair accessible vehicles to meet their needs. In support of the awareness month, sponsors such as Toyota, Honda, and Chrysler, have rallied together to provide the vehicles, which will later be customized by NMEDA manufacturers – Braun Ability, Vantage Mobility International and Bruno Independent Living Aids.
Those eligible to win the wheelchair accessible vehicles are distinguished as Local Heroes, who will be encouraged to submit either written or videotaped stories of how they've overcome or struggled with mobility issues. Caregivers, friends and family members are also welcome to submit entries for others. Stories will be accepted on mobilityawarenessmonth.com from March 18, 2012 to May 13, 2012 and voting will take place from April 1, 2012 to May 13, 2012.
Joe Allen, Ride-Away's Vice President of Sales and Marketing stated, "This is a significant milestone for the mobility industry. At Ride-Away, we've always known that independence is an achievable goal for those with disabilities. National Mobility Awareness Month provides a platform for that knowledge to reach those who may not have been aware of the wide range of mobility products in existence and also affords deserving individuals the opportunity to win a free wheelchair accessible van."
