Costumes, Candy, and Boo-tiful Fire Pits Await at West Bottoms First Friday Weekend, October 3-5

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Sept. 30, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The Historic West Bottoms District is brewing up its annual Boo in the Bottoms event during First Friday Weekend, October 3-5. This spirited shopping tradition mixes spooky fun with vintage treasures, turning the district into a lively haunt for families, friends, and thrillseekers alike.

Boo in the Bottoms annual event in Kansas City's Historic West Bottoms District includes some Beasts from the nationally acclaimed attractions in the area. Daytime monsters are for photo-ops and fun - no scaring.

During the day, visitors are encouraged to wear costumes and trick-or-treat at participating stores, filling their bags with candy and shopping for one-of-a-kind finds, furniture, and décor. Outside at 13^th and Hickory, face painting will be offered, along with s'mores by the fire pits, to add even more festive fun. Friendly monsters from the legendary Edge of Hell and Beast Haunted Attractions will roam the streets for photos and lighthearted fun. Spiced cider and themed drinks from the Full Moon Bar add to the seasonal cheer outside, with the spooky plant sale also available on Saturday and Sunday.

At night, the magic continues around the boo-tiful fire pits, where visitors can warm up by their "boo". Haunts are open Thursday through Saturday this first week of October.

West Bottoms Shopping – The Festival of the Full Moon Weekend kicks off with Boo in the Bottoms, October 3-5. Most shops will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Store hours may vary.

Food & Drink – Indulge at Chef J BBQ, Java Garage, Bella Patina's Painted Rooster Café, West Bottoms Whiskey, and the Full Moon Street Bar.
Halloween Fun and Meet & Greet Haunt Villains - Family-friendly fun with Scare Cast roaming outside from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and Sunday from 12-3. Wear costumes, photo ops with cast, and trick-or-treat at participating stores.

Boos in the Bottoms KC Collectors Spooky Plant Sale: Saturday, October 4, 9-5 pm and Sunday, Oct. 5 from 10-4, The final sale of the year! Kansas City Plant Collectors plant sale on Hickory Street on the south side of the 12th Street bridge. There are around 20 plant vendors. Common plants, rarer ones, and everything plant-related, plus candy, costumes, and 3D printed items.
