Hawaii's Koloa Rum Wins Gold in Multiple Competitions

KALAHEO, Hawaii, June 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Koloa Rum was awarded five Gold Medals at the 2016 Miami Rum Renaissance Festival in April, and more awards in other prestigious international spirits competitions this year.

The company distills its rums using Hawaiian sugar cane. It competed at Miami among rums from 22 countries and six states and territories.

Koloa Rum's newest product, Kauai Coffee Rum, was singled out for the highest award offered, a "Best in Class" Gold Medal for flavored rums.

Additionally, Koloa Rum's Kauai White Rum won a Gold Medal for premium white rum. Its Kauai Gold Rum won a Gold Medal for gold rums. Kauai Spice Rum won a Gold Medal for spiced rums. And Kauai Dark won the Gold Medal for black rums. 

Those awards were judged by a distinguished panel of RumXP judges who were sequestered for three days of blind tastings. Koloa Rum also won awards in the festival's 2016 Consumer Rum Jury Awards: It won Gold Medals for both Kauai Coffee and Kauai Coconut Rums, and a Silver Medal for Kauai Dark Rum. In March, 2016, Koloa Rum's Kauai Coffee Rum won a Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, one of the most respected and influential spirits competitions in the world.

In that same month, Koloa Rum's Kauai Coconut Rum won the Chairman's Trophy for flavored rums at the Ultimate Spirits Challenge in Hawthorne, New York, and Kauai Coffee Rum was deemed a finalist. 

In April 2016 The Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America awarded Silver Medals to Koloa Rum's Kauai Coffee Rum and Kauai Coconut Rum in Las Vegas, Nevada.
