Hayes Family Selected as Winner of the Family Dollar Holiday Dream Dash Contest

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Dec. 15, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- The Hayes family of Nashville, Tennessee has been selected as the grand prize winner of the Family Dollar Holiday Dream Dash Contest, giving them a festive opportunity to dash through their local Family Dollar store aisles for a complimentary shopping spree.  The winner was announced at www.contest.familydollar.com after Chondrika Hayes' contest entry and ideal Holiday Gift List was voted as the top contender by customers nationwide. Today, Hayes and her family will be able to create a special holiday experience by grabbing as many $5 toys and gifts and other holiday items as their shopping cart can handle, in ninety seconds or less at their neighborhood Family Dollar store location.

Hayes was initially selected as one of twenty-five contest semi-finalists from more than 6,000 total contest entries by consumers across the country.  As a reason for why she deserved to win the Family Dollar Holiday Dream Dash grand prize, Hayes highlighted that she wanted to fulfill her nine year-old daughter's holiday wish to create a winter donation drive that would benefit the homeless.  The winning entry stated "[my daughter] came up with a name, how it would operate, who would work for her and she also found a building….It is my desire to be able to help my daughter with giving to those that may be less fortunate."
