HCR ManorCare Honors 2017 Third-Quarter National Champion of Caring

Our employees around the country are regularly honored at their locations by patients, residents, family members and fellow employees for the care and caring they provide. Our company has taken the recognition a step higher in launching a program that honors on a quarterly basis an HCR ManorCare Champion of Caring, a national champion across all service lines.

2017 Third-Quarter Champion Announced

"I am pleased to announce that our 2017 third-quarter HCR ManorCare Champion of Caring is Sonia Rodriguez, a housekeeping aide at ManorCare Health Services in Elk Grove Village, Illinois," said Steve Cavanaugh, chairman, president and chief executive officer. "I congratulate her on the helpful, caring and responsive way she carries out her responsibilities, exhibiting a true spirit of caring." Sonia has been a caregiver at ManorCare – Elk Grove Village for 21 years. She makes a point of learning patients' names, and they know hers. She takes pride in her work and is a stickler for detail. She instills her strong work ethic in the housekeeping staff she trains, which has led to a remarkable housekeeping team with excellent customer service scores. Her human resources director holds her up in new employee orientation as the example of how employees should respond to customer needs and concerns. She has a caring, positive attitude and goes out of her way to make sure patients are safe.

Sonia was chosen from among finalists representing each of HCR ManorCare's seven operating divisions. Each of the finalists had already distinguished her- or himself by being chosen a Divisional Champion of Caring from among thousands of employees. Divisional finalists not chosen as the national champion in the past quarter joined seven new divisional finalists in the selection pool for the 2017 third quarter. The seven new finalists in the third quarter were:

• Mike Garrison, Spiritual Care Counselor, Heartland Hospice of Fairview Heights, Illinois
• Darline Legentus, Resident Caregiver, Arden Courts of Fort Myers, Florida
• Maria Moors, Receptionist, ManorCare Health Services – Venice, Florida
• Jacqueline Nowak, Occupational Therapist, Heartland Health Care Center – Livonia, Michigan
• Pamela Shipe, STNA, ManorCare Health Services – Barberton, Ohio
• Ruthie Williams, Laundry/Housekeeping Aide, ManorCare Health Services – Tacoma, Washington
