''No Barriers'' Virtual Activity Challenge Promotes Health and Wellness While Observing National Disability Employment Awareness Month in October

AUSTIN, Texas, Sept. 29, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Recognizing the hard-working women and men with disabilities in the U.S. workforce, HealthCode and Professional Contract Services, Inc. are encouraging people of all ages to join the "No Barriers'' virtual activity challenge in October.

The No Barriers challenge was born out of the reality that everyone is facing a challenge – seen or unseen – in their life.

As October marks National Disability Employment Awareness Month, HealthCode and PCSI are challenging everyone to join the No Barriers challenge to raise awareness of the benefits of an active, healthy lifestyle while celebrating the contributions of people with disabilities in the workforce.

National Disability Employment Awareness Month began in 1945 as a weeklong national observance of the contributions of people with physical disabilities. In 1988, Congress designated the commemoration as NDEAM, which then evolved to acknowledge the importance of increasing opportunities for people with disabilities, including those with mental health conditions and other nonobvious disabilities, in the workforce.

No Barriers will kick off October 1 and participating is easy. Participants sign up on the No Barriers registration page and log miles or minutes – or both – on the HealthCode online activity tracker. Throughout the month, the program leaderboard is updated with miles achieved globally.

HealthCode's programs are designed to raise awareness of the benefits of an active, healthier lifestyle while making developing healthy habits fun. Since its first Million Mile Month virtual challenge in 2014, 207,414 registrants in all 50 states and 30 countries have participated in HealthCode's virtual activity events, achieving 21.3 million miles and 337.3 million minutes of physical activity and burning 2.4 billion calories with potential healthcare cost savings of $6.2 million.

The No Barriers challenge is a companion challenge to October's Marathon in a Month. Participants wanting an extra challenge are encouraged to register for both events.
