Weber's book traces the couples' thirty-five years together in Chicago's northwest suburbs and in southern Wisconsin. It tells poignant, often amusing, stories about courtship, marriage, raising four children, balancing constant demands of family and career, enjoying travel excursions, and coping with a fatal cancer. Angie endured three brain surgeries to remove malignant tumors and returned to work as an occupational health nurse after two of the surgeries. She survived four years with a disease that kills most patients in 16 months. "Angie never felt sorry for herself. When she encountered obstacles, she summoned her strong will to succeed and, more often than not, she beat the odds," Weber wrote.

Chuck Weber is a retired public relations consultant and teaches part time at the University of Wisconsin Whitewater. He wrote "The Light She Gave" to promote and preserve his wife's legacy and to share her life story with his seven grandchildren who were born after Angie's death.
