TOLEDO, Ohio, March 5, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- HCR ManorCare is proud to announce that Heartland I.V. Care has been awarded 41 Competitive Bid Areas (CBA) as part of Medicare's DMEPOS (Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics and Supplies) Competitive Bidding program. Service areas such as Baltimore, Chicago, Detroit and Seattle will continue to be served by Heartland I.V. Care, which provides nutrition support services and intravenous medications to patients in the community setting. "Enteral therapy is an important part of Heartland's continuum of home-based services, and we look forward to expanding these services to meet the needs of patients in the communities we serve," according to Connie Sullivan, R.Ph., Infusion Director at Heartland I.V. Care
The DMEPOS Competitive Bidding is a cost-savings strategy being administered by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The program also aims to consolidate the number of providers serving Medicare beneficiaries within a given geographical area. Only providers who were awarded contracts through the competitive bidding process will be able to serve patients once the contract cycle begins on July 1, 2013.
