TOLEDO, Ohio, Dec. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- HCR ManorCare is proud to announce that Heartland IV Care has been awarded enteral therapy contracts for all 9 Competitive Bid Areas (CBA) included in the Round 1 Re-compete contracting cycle for Medicare's Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics and Supplies (DMEPOS) Competitive Bidding program. Round 1 Re-compete service areas include Pittsburgh, Riverside-San Bernardino, Miami-Ft. Lauderdale, Kansas City, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Dallas-Ft. Worth, Orlando and Charlotte, N.C. Heartland IV Care, which provides nutrition support services and intravenous medications to patients in the community setting, is excited and eager to expand its enteral services beyond those contracts awarded to Heartland in Round 1. "Enteral therapy is an important part of Heartland's continuum of home-based services, and we look forward to expanding these services to meet the needs of patients in the communities we serve," according to Connie Sullivan, R.Ph., Infusion Director at Heartland IV Care.
The DMEPOS Competitive Bidding Program is a cost-savings strategy being administered by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The program also aims to consolidate the number of providers serving Medicare beneficiaries within a given geographical area. Only providers who were awarded contracts through the competitive bidding process will be able to serve patients once the contract cycle begins on January 1, 2014.
