Celebrate soup season with cozy recipes to warm up from within

CINCINNATI, Feb. 26, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The Kroger Co. (NYSE:KR), America's grocer, today is sharing how customers can get the most out of soup season with cozy, warm and convenient recipes the entire family can enjoy this winter.

"Warm up from the inside out with our favorite hearty recipes, from the cold-weather classics we know and love to new twists on winter staples, Kroger is serving up inspiration to make soup season simple and delicious," said Carlo Baldan, Kroger' group vice president of Fresh Merchandising. "Nothing beats enjoying a warm and hearty meal on a chilly day. We hope customers discover new recipes that become family staples this season from Kroger."

Soups are the ultimate cold weather food and offer some of the simplest recipes to follow with minimal prep work and easy cleanup. Explore soups, stews and chilis on Kroger's blog, The Fresh Lane:

• Classic Chicken Noodle Soup—all the traditional flavors of chicken noodle soup come together in this classic recipe
• Baked Potato Soup—this recipe calls for true baked potatoes, giving the dish a better taste and texture
• Egg Drop Soup—bring the Chinese restaurant favorite to your own kitchen
• Chickpea and Vegetable Minestrone Soup—full of fresh vegetables, protein-packed chickpeas and tender pasta

Nothing says comfort like a rich, flavorful stew full of roughly chopped root veggies, savory herbs and hearty cuts of meat. Stews are a great place to start for feeding a family on a snowy or cold day. As a bonus, soups and stews taste even better as leftovers once flavors have time to blend. Find stew inspiration with these recipes:

• Slow Cooker Beef Stew—sear the meat and deglaze the beef before nestling it in the slow cooker. Find more beef stew tips here
• Lemon Artichoke Chicken Stew—a unique and refreshing citrus zest round out the flavor
• Moroccan Lentil Stew—this Moroccan-inspired stew is filled with warm seasonings and flavorful ingredients customers might already have in the refrigerator and pantry

A ladleful of chili warms even the coldest days and provides an extra boost to fight off those pesky winter colds. Plus, one stock pot of savory chili can provide a few days' worth of meals, meaning less planning and prep. Try these delicious chilis:

• Classic Slow Cooker Chili—a true crowd pleaser that tastes best after a long, slow simmer – the perfect job for a slow cooker
• Green Chicken Chili—a tasty twist on chicken chili with tomatillos and salsa Verde
• Cincinnati Chili—Cincinnati-style chili is traditionally served on a bed of spaghetti and topped with cheese and oyster crackers
