HelloNation Explains How Pregnancy Affects Ring and Bracelet Fit Featuring Jewelry Expert Bianca Farish

The article outlines how swelling during pregnancy impacts jewelry comfort and when temporary adjustments may be needed.

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga., Oct. 12, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- How does pregnancy impact the fit of your favorite jewelry pieces? A HelloNation article featuring Jewelry Expert Bianca Farish of LeeBrant Jewelry and Watch Company in Sandy Springs, GA, provides helpful advice on maintaining jewelry comfort during pregnancy and offers insight into when to seek professional guidance for adjustments.

According to Farish, pregnancy jewelry requires special attention due to the body's natural changes. As fluid retention increases, many people notice swelling during pregnancy, especially in their hands and wrists. Rings that once felt loose can begin to feel tight, and bracelets may no longer move freely. These changes are normal but can become uncomfortable if ignored.

The HelloNation article explains that swelling usually begins in the second trimester and can intensify in the third. Increased blood volume and fluid retention contribute to this effect, making it difficult to remove jewelry. Farish advises that if a ring feels snug or requires twisting and pulling to remove, it is time to take action. Continuing to wear jewelry that feels restrictive can cause discomfort, circulation issues, or even require removal by cutting.

Temporary resizing offers a practical solution for maintaining jewelry comfort throughout pregnancy. A professional jeweler can install sizing beads or ring guards to slightly loosen the fit without altering the ring permanently. Farish notes that these minor adjustments allow expectant parents to continue wearing meaningful pieces safely. Once swelling subsides after delivery, the temporary resizing can be reversed to restore the ring's original size.

Bracelets can also be adapted with a bracelet extender or adjustable clasp. These simple tools provide added length and flexibility while protecting delicate links and clasps from stress. As Farish explains, extenders are especially useful for sentimental items, such as bangles or charm bracelets, that many people want to keep wearing throughout pregnancy. They maintain comfort without compromising the jewelry's design or integrity.

In some cases, Farish recommends removing certain pieces altogether until after childbirth, particularly when swelling during pregnancy becomes pronounced or fluctuates daily. Storing fine jewelry in a soft pouch or lined jewelry box keeps it safe from scratches, moisture, and accidental damage. This approach preserves sentimental items while preventing unnecessary wear or discomfort.

The HelloNation article also points out that post-pregnancy adjustments can vary. Even months after childbirth, hormonal shifts and changes in daily activity can affect the fit of rings and bracelets. Farish suggests waiting until the body fully stabilizes before requesting a permanent ring resizing. Resizing too early can lead to additional changes later, requiring further adjustments by a professional jeweler.

At LeeBrant Jewelry and Watch Company, Farish and her team regularly assist clients who experience these changes. Their goal is to maintain the beauty and function of every piece while ensuring jewelry comfort. They specialize in reversible, thoughtful, and tailored techniques, ensuring that valuable or sentimental jewelry remains protected.

The HelloNation article underscores that pregnancy jewelry adjustments are about more than aesthetics—they are about comfort, safety, and preservation. Temporary resizing, bracelet extenders, and professional guidance all help prevent unnecessary stress on jewelry while keeping wearers comfortable during a period of physical change. Farish emphasizes that even simple adjustments can make a meaningful difference.

For many clients, these recommendations help them continue to wear treasured jewelry pieces throughout pregnancy without risk. LeeBrant Jewelry's approach focuses on balance—keeping comfort in mind while ensuring that every ring, bracelet, or keepsake remains structurally sound and ready to fit beautifully once the body returns to its natural rhythm.

Farish reminds readers that pregnancy swelling is temporary, but well-cared-for jewelry can last a lifetime. With the help of a professional jeweler, pieces can be safely adapted and easily restored when the time is right. These small steps preserve both comfort and sentiment, allowing jewelry to continue marking life's milestones with lasting beauty.
