Holiday Gift Retailer Expands Charitable Partnership with Leading Non-Profit During One-Day Fundraiser
TOLEDO, Ohio, Dec. 1, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Hickory Farms is proud to announce its national partnership with Share Our Strength's No Kid Hungry® campaign for Giving Tuesday, December 2, to help end childhood hunger in America. During this one-day fundraiser, Hickory Farms will match all cash donations made by consumers up to $50,000, which will help No Kid Hungry connect children in need with nutritious food and teach families how to cook healthy, affordable meals. Giving Tuesday began in 2012 as a campaign to raise awareness and support for charitable giving just after the large retail sales surge associated with Black Friday and Cyber Monday. No Kid Hungry has rallied supporters on Giving Tuesday to help raise funds for children in need. In 2013 it reached 35 million Americans, received 2,000 contributions and registered 6,000 tweets in one day. This year, Hickory Farms and No Kid Hungry plan to expand their Giving Tuesday campaign to reach 40 million Americans.
Hickory Farms is a longstanding No Kid Hungry supporter. Since 2008 Hickory Farms has raised more than $3.3 million dollars in support of No Kid Hungry's work to ensure children have the healthy food they need, every day. Throughout this holiday season, Hickory Farms will make a five-dollar donation to No Kid Hungry for every Signature Party Planner gift box it sells in addition to this Giving Tuesday pledge in hopes of crossing the $4 million dollar threshold.
