Highmark Caring Place honors volunteers for their work with grieving children
PITTSBURGH, July 14, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Highmark Caring Place, A Center for Grieving Children, Adolescents and Their Families, recently recognized 735 volunteers, including 88 individuals who reached 5-, 10- and 15-year service milestones in their volunteer work with members of the community at the organization's four Pennsylvania locations – Erie, Lemoyne, Pittsburgh and Warrendale.
"We are so grateful for the many individuals who donate their time to support children and adults after the death of a loved one," said Terese Vorsheck, Highmark Caring Place director. "The support that Caring Place volunteers provide makes such a big difference in the lives of these children and their families."
Caring Place volunteers serve in a variety of roles, including peer group facilitators, food servers, family greeters, quilters and more. Volunteers who work directly with grieving children and their families in group sessions complete a 26-hour training session.
"The compassion and dedication our volunteers demonstrate is the critical link that allows us to help so many families," said Vorsheck. "Without them, we simply could not provide the services that we offer."

The Highmark Caring Place is a community resource, which offers services at no charge to any grieving family.
