Highmark executive Michael Fiaschetti Appointed to Board of Pennsylvania eHealth Partnership Authority

HARRISBURG, Pa., Nov. 26, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Michael Fiaschetti of Harrisburg, president of commercial markets for Highmark Inc., has been appointed to the board of directors of the Pennsylvania eHealth Partnership Authority. He was appointed by Senate President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati (R-25^th) upon the recommendation of Senate Minority Leader Jay Costa (D-43^rd).

The Authority, established through legislation approved in July 2012, is charged with creating the ability for medical providers to securely exchange medical information electronically.

"In his role at Highmark, Mike Fiaschetti has been engaged in Pennsylvania's health information exchange (HIE) journey for many years," said Alix Goss, PA Health Information Technology Coordinator and the Authority's Program Director. One of 15 board Authority members, Fiaschetti oversees Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Delaware markets, national accounts sales, enterprise informatics, provider contracting and pharmacy affairs at Highmark. He has more than 25 years of executive experience in the managed care and health insurance industry, including over 17 years in executive positions with Highmark and previous time served in executive positions at other health plans including time served as president of an HMO plan.

In addition, he is actively involved in the community serving on numerous community boards over the past two decades and also serves on the board of Navinet, a healthcare technology company, Keystone Health Plan West, First Priority Health and Highmark's subsidiary plans in West Virginia and Delaware. 

Health information exchange (HIE) is the electronic movement of health-related information among unaffiliated organizations according to nationally recognized standards. Pennsylvania was awarded $17.1 million under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to help establish a health information exchange.
