H&K Equipment Becomes the Newest Authorized Cushman Dealer

PITTSBURGH, Oct. 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- H&K Equipment of Pittsburgh announced today that it has become an authorized dealer of Cushman commercial and utility vehicles. Cushman, a subsidiary of Textron, joins 10 other major material handling equipment manufacturers now represented by the dealer, which serves much of western Pennsylvania and the tri-state area.

"Cushman utility vehicles have an international reputation for reliability and value," said Patrick Koch, operations manager at H&K Equipment. He added, "We will sell, service and provide parts to customers in all counties in Pennsylvania, except Philadelphia. We are proud to bring Cushman onboard."

"Cushman is a principal name in the industry," added H&K Equipment Vice President Peter Cicero, who helped establish the relationship with Cushman in the spring of 2013. "When they approached us about becoming an authorized dealer, we were immediately interested."

The Cushman lines now available through H&K Equipment feature 10 models designed for factory, warehouse and commercial functions. These include the Cushman 1600XD, the Hauler, the Titan HD, the Minute Miser and Cushman's popular line of personnel transport vehicles.

Specialty vehicles, such as the Cushman Tug, the T-1145 Scissor Lift and the Stock Chaser utility cart, are also represented. Each new vehicle offers a suite of optional features and can be customized to fit a specific application.

"We began rolling out new vehicles in June and are now offering most of Cushman's industrial and commercial lineup," Cicero said. "Since then we've already sold several units and are looking at building out a rental fleet. These machines are a great fit for us and our customers."

The Titan HD, Cicero said, is frequently used to move tools and maintenance teams around heavy manufacturing facilities like steel mills, which have long been an important part of H&K Equipment's customer base.

Cicero added that the Cushman deal also allows his company to provide more solutions to rapidly growing markets like the oil and gas industry.

"The 1600XD goes beyond our industrial base and is right there with the teams doing gas drilling, exploration in the field, or anything that takes them off-road," Cicero said.

A 22 horsepower four-wheel drive utility vehicle, the diesel engine 1600XD features a large half-ton capacity bed and four-wheel independent suspension. It was designed and built for transport in intense outdoor or rugged environments.

Expanded product offerings like these, Koch explained, are a key component to H&K Equipment's continued growth.

"We strive to be a single source provider of material handling equipment," Koch said. "Cushman helps round out our lines of lift trucks and heavier machinery and gives us another tool to offer our customers."
