HM Insurance Group Renews Partnership with the National Kidney Foundation

NEW YORK, April 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- HM Insurance Group (HM) has renewed its commitment to support the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) Golf Classic program throughout the 2014 season, the Foundation announced today. HM has been a National Kidney Foundation corporate partner since 2011, contributing $500,000 in total support including its commitment in 2014.

Through the partnership, HM Insurance Group and the National Kidney Foundation work together to provide help and hope to the 26 million Americans with kidney disease. As one of the leading national carriers of employer stop loss insurance, HM Insurance Group protects employers that self-fund their employees' health insurance by providing financial protection against catastrophic claim costs. "Conditions such as kidney disease can lead to catastrophic claims, as seen firsthand by HM," says Michael Sullivan, HM president and COO. "We have paid more than $102 million in claims related to kidney disease over the past five years, making kidney disease among the top five claim categories at HM," explains Sullivan.

The National Kidney Foundation Golf Classic, a nationwide series of more than 30 golf tournaments held across the country, is the Premier Amateur Golf Event for Charity. HM Insurance Group will support local events in 10 cities, as well as the annual National Finals held in Pebble Beach, California, in January. In addition to HM's corporate support over the last four years, HM regional leadership and their producers have generously raised and provided more than $175,000 in additional funding through the purchase of golf foursomes, local golf sponsorships and other fundraising activities.   

In Pittsburgh, where the company is headquartered, HM Insurance Group also will serve as presenting sponsor of the local NKF Golf Classic event to be held on May 19 at Valley Brook Country Club, as well as the Kidney Walk event to be held November 2.
