Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival Returns
LOS ANGELES, Feb. 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The 15th Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival (HRIFF) returns to Los Angeles with its most extensive program yet. After a long history at Quentin Tarantino's New Beverly, the festival is now hosted at Regal Cinemas LA LIVE / Staples Center February 12-28th 2015 at venues across Hollywood.
Hugo Niebeling receives the HRIFF Award of Excellence with a world premiere of an unseen classic Herbert Karajan performance, & retrospective of his 1960's films.
HRIFF unveils new work from Academy Award Nominee Bill Plympton, as well as Michael Apted, & John G. Avildsen, and honors Grace Zabriskie, who will appear in person with her film Unpeaceable, and pays tribute to Robin Williams & Robert Drew. Ruben Ostlund's "Force Majeure" also receives HRIFF honors.
HRIFF screens emerging filmmakers alongside the most accomplished names in Hollywood, including: Joe Mantegna, Lisa Kudrow, Tony Hale, Dominique Swain, Colm Meaney, Fred Willard, Pamela Adlon, Janeane Garofalo, Lee Meriwether, Marion Ross, Shirley Jones, Jennifer Elise Cox, Ray Wise, Maurice Benard, Jonathan Pryce, HRIFF Best Actor Gary Cole, & much more.
HRIFF favorites include "Kill Me Deadly" a comedic love letter to 'Old Hollywood.' Directed by Darrett Sanders, penned by Bill Robens and featuring Joe Mantegna and Lesley-Anne Down, screening Friday, Feb 13th at 10:00 pm at LA LIVE.
Documentaries "The Man Behind 55,000 Dresses" (an analysis of obsession and collecting), and "Anatomy of Anatomy" (a behind the scenes look at the classic Otto Preminger film "Anatomy of A Murder" shown from the viewpoint of the town in which it was filmed) both screen Monday, Feb 16th at 6:30pm at Belvarado Film Studios.
"The Ghost and the Whale" written & directed by The Gaudioso Twins with a cast including Jonathan Pryce, Monica Keena, Tippi Hedren, and Emmy Award winner Maurice Benard, screens Thursday, Feb 12th at 10:00 pm at LA LIVE.
