LOS ANGELES, Aug. 2, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Actor Terry Kiser, best known as Bernie Lomax, (the dead guy) in Weekend at Bernie's celebrated his birthday yesterday!
Who would have thought this young man from Omaha, Nebraska would graduate from the University of Kansas with a degree in Industrial Engineering and years later, be known as one of the most prolific comedic actors of our generation?
Terry, trained at the Actors Studio in New York, was mentored by legendary method acting coach Lee Strasberg and following several gigs in television commercials, made his film debut as a preacher in the film Rachel, Rachel. Throughout his career, he gave memorable performances in films such as Lapin 360, An Eye for an Eye, Starlight – The Plane That Couldn't Land, From A Whisper to A Scream, Mannequin On the Move and of course his role as Dr. Crews in Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood.
With well over 107 television credits to his name, Kiser had a recurring role in the daytime soap opera The Doctors, but he is well known for outstanding work in many television series such as Will & Grace, Walker, Texas Ranger, Baywatch, The Golden Girls, LA Law, Murder, She Wrote, Knight Rider, The Fall Guy, Magnum, PI, Hill Street Blues, Three's Company, Different Strokes, All In The Family, Hawaii Five-O, The Six Million Dollar Man, The Carol Burnett Show, and most recently Significant Mother with Jonathan Silverman.
As a stage actor, Kiser has over 70 stage plays to his credits and received a Tony Award nomination for his performance in Neil Simon's comedy, God's Favorite. He also won an Obie and A Theater World Award for his exemplary dramatic work in the play Fortune and Men's Eyes.
Kiser recently completed several feature films including The Farmer of the Year, and Kingsbury Run. He is credited with directing an episode of the award-winning television short Old Broads – Moving On Up and currently Kiser has several projects in development, including The Body Sculptor, and In Between.
Terry spent his birthday on his favorite golf course in Colorado, but he continues to divide his time traveling to work and auditions in Los Angeles, Atlanta and Texas. Not bad for a guy who has been deceased since 1989.
