Home Improvement Hopefuls Become DIY Reality Stars Thanks to True Value

CHICAGO, Sept. 8, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Ever wonder how the neighbors tackle their hardest home improvement projects? Want to peek behind their door to learn how they get it all done? Now you can! This week, True Value Hardware made three do-it-yourselfers' dreams come true by announcing them as winners of the national "DIY True Stories" Contest! After dishing out their DIY True Stories, Julia Marcum of Spanish Fork, Utah, Kylee Boutchia of Taylors, South Carolina and Gwen Brion of Liberty, Pennsylvania were selected to become DIY reality stars in a web mini-series on the True Value Facebook page. Each winner also received $2,500 and a personal consultation from their local "Master of All Things Hardwarian," or True Value employee, to help them get the job done!

From September to December, each winner will record their project's progress from start to finish in a five-part web series offering their story and personal home improvement advice. Starting on September 16, the winners will begin their DIY web series, where they will post detailed videos chronicling the trials and tribulations of overcoming their home improvement hang-ups. The videos will be posted on the DIY True Stories tab on True Value's Facebook page, allowing America to take a sneak peek behind the scenes as these determined DIYers tackle down and dirty home transformations.
