Homeowners Consumer Center Wants to Hear From New York Homeowners if Their Insurance Company Lowballed on a Winter Storm Damage Repair Claim For Their Home
WASHINGTON, April 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Homeowners Consumer Center is now urging homeowners anywhere in New York to contact them immediately at 866-714-6466, if they had significant winter home damage as a result of a severe winter storm, and if their homeowners insurance company is lowballing the proposed insurance claim settlement offer to make repairs, and offering settlements that are not adequate to make the necessary repairs to the home. In most instances winter storm damage should be covered by a standard homeowners insurance policy. After the most severe winter in decades, the Center thinks there could be numerous New York state homeowners in this predicament. http://HomeownersConsumerCenter.Com

According to a February 23, 2015 news article by CBS New York, "According to the Insurance Information Institute, standard homeowners' policies cover damage by wind, snow and severe cold and freezing rain. http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2015/02/23/experts-it-pays-to-find-out-if-your-homeowners-insurance-covers-extreme-cold-damage/
The types of insurance claims the Homeowners Consumer Center is talking about severe damage that could include:.
- Severe home damage caused the winter of 2014/2015 including roof damage, fire, exterior damage, home interior damage caused by frozen pipes, or roof leaks, a fire, etc.
The Homeowners Consumer Center wants to emphasize this is a statewide initiative in New York, and is focused on helping a homeowner in any community such as: New York City, Rochester, Albany, Yonkers, Syracuse, Schenectady, Utica, Buffalo, and any other community in New York state, whose insurance company is offering an inadequate amount to settle a homeowners insurance claim.
The Center says, "We are urging any homeowner in New York state to call us at 866-714-6466, if their homeowners insurance company is not offering an adequate settlement to make repairs to a home that was severely damaged this just past winter. We believe in many instances New York state homeowners are getting lowballed on their insurance claims, and we want to try to help them if possible.
"In some instances we have talked to homeowners in New York who may need a complete roof replacement, or major drywall repair, and their insurance company is only offering money for a patch job. How does a homeowner in New York replace their severely damaged roof, or their home's interior, if their homeowners insurance company only offers them pennies on the dollar for the needed repairs?
"Our initiative also includes homeowners in the same predicament if they live in New Jersey, Illinois, Colorado, or Tennessee.
"Our only caveat is the insurance claim can be no older than two years old, and the proof of loss must be well documented by the homeowner." http://HomeownersConsumerCenter.Com
