Hoover Welcomed to PA Board of Game Commissioners

HARRISBURG, Pa., Aug. 13, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Pennsylvania Game Commission Executive Director Carl G. Roe today welcomed Brian H. Hoover, of Glenolden, Delaware County, as the agency's newest member of the Board of Game Commissioners. Nominated by Gov. Tom Corbett on May 14, Hoover was confirmed to an eight-year term by the state Senate on June 25, and will represent District 8.

"Each member brings a unique perspective and background to the composition of the Board.  It is their combined experiences, and the values they place on our wildlife resources and hunting and trapping heritage that makes the Board work on behalf of all Pennsylvanians."

Hoover serves as Glenolden Borough manager, and is responsible for the borough government's day-to-day operations. He previously owned and operated South East Archery and Sports, which was one of the leading outdoor sales facilities in the Philadelphia region.

Hoover has 27 years of experience as a volunteer Hunter-Trapper Education instructor with the Game Commission. He holds degrees from Penn State University and Delaware County Community College. He is a member of the Delaware County Field and Stream Association, the National Wild Turkey Federation and is a life member of the National Rifle Association.

The Pennsylvania Board of Game Commissioners is comprised of eight board members; each selected by the governor and confirmed the state Senate. Commissioners individually hold office for terms of eight years. Commissioners receive no compensation for their services, but may be reimbursed for travel expenses. District 8 is comprised of Berks, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lehigh, Montgomery, Northampton, Philadelphia and Schuylkill counties.
