Horseshoe Casino Baltimore Celebrates Grand Opening

BALTIMORE, Aug. 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Horseshoe Casino Baltimore celebrated its grand opening in style with a star-studded celebration to welcome Baltimore's most influential citizens to Charm City's newest attraction.

The opening night festivities began with a special gathering for dignitaries in the casino's outdoor entertainment plaza and included remarks from Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley and the Mayor of Baltimore Stephanie Rawlings-Blake. Revelers were treated to awe-inspiring vertical dance performances by BANDALOOP, pyrotechnics and music as the evening's festivities kicked-off. In a nod to Baltimore's history, a series of banners depicting great moments in the city's past were unfurled during the course of the opening ceremonies. A final banner proclaimed the evening as Baltimore's lucky night, officially marking the opening of Horseshoe Casino Baltimore.

Opening night proved to be a great draw for the gaming entertainment complex as more than 15,000 guests clamored to be among the first to experience Baltimore's only casino. As guests explored the casino's new gaming amenities, they were treated to special surprise performances throughout the night at 14forty, a 24 hour multi-level entertainment venue. Pop star Iggy Azalea, legendary songstress Gladys Knight and a set by DJ Pauly D were among the surprise performances. Guests also brushed elbows with celebrity chefs Guy Fieri, Aaron Sanchez, John Besh and Duff Goldman as they greeted revelers at the casino's three signature restaurants.

The air of festivity during the opening hours was further enhanced by the 1,700 new casino employees, more than 50 percent of whom hail from the greater Baltimore area.
