Hot Import Nights and XDC Plan to Donate $50,000 in Sponsorship to Fight Bullying
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., May 3, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Hot Import Nights and Xtreme Drift Circuit are pleased to announce the HIN Philanthropic Initiative for 2012, focusing on social causes, specifically those that support digital entertainment and action sports enthusiasts around the world. In honor of Defeat The Label's "STAND4CHANGE Against Bullying 2012" day on May 4, we are mobilizing our fan base to take a stand against bullying.
"Hot Import Nights/XDC started 2012 with successful events across three HIN Events platforms and we are pleased to announce plans to donate $50,000 in sponsorship to fight Bullying. It's time for all of us to take a stand against bullying. We are calling on all car enthusiasts, drivers, drifting organizations, and action sports enthusiasts to stand up to bullies. If you witness any person or organization being victimized by a bully on the school yard, track or online, take action and mobilize others to take action," stated Patrick Huntington, Social Cause Director.
Unfortunately, bullying is rampant in the action sports and digital entertainment sectors. Messages of hate, intolerance, and discrimination circulate daily in our communities and even more so across digital platforms. Cyber bullying has become an especially popular medium for cowards to spread harmful and damaging messages. There is hope though as activists groups are now holding digital platforms responsible for policing the messaging sent under their domains with legal action being pursued both against bullies and platforms who do not comply.
Celebrities such as Justin Bieber, Ellen DeGeneres and Cody Simpson, and organizations including the Anti-defamation League (ADL), American Association of School Administrators (AASA), National Educators Association (NEA) are voicing their commitment to no longer tolerate bullying in our schools and in our communities. HIN Events will be activating sponsorships at each of its 2012 live events and across its digital platforms for anti-bullying education and activation groups. The company is mobilizing its fan base to visit sites such as www.stand4change.org, www.defeatthelabel.org, www.thetrevorproject.org, www.pacer.org, www.stompoutbullying.org, www.athinline.org and www.thebullyproject.com.
