Houston Methodist Orthopedics & Sports Medicine provides medical support during Challenge Soccer Club's Texas Shootout

HOUSTON, Aug. 13, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- A team of physicians and athletic trainers from Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital provided continuous medical support during the 27th Annual Challenge Soccer Club's Texas Shootout tournament recently held in Houston.

The tournament is the top women's college recruiting event of the year and drew players from state, regional and national level teams from across the country.   

"With the time our physicians and athletic trainers gave during this event, we were able to provide a high level of care for these players," said Scott Rand, M.D., a primary care sports medicine physician at Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital. "From concussions and facial lacerations to ankle and knee injuries and allergic reactions, we helped the athletes stay at their best during the competition."

Houston Methodist Orthopedics and Sports Medicine physicians and athletic trainers partner with the Challenge Soccer Club to provide medical support for Houston-area players throughout the year.
