How to Cope With a Burpy Comet: Discussion on EE Times Radio

NEW YORK, Oct. 15, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- As the Spacecraft Rosetta's flight team prepares for deployment of its lander on the comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko next month, they also face the most critical technical challenges of the 10-year mission.

Andrea Accomazzo, Rosetta Flight Director and Head of the Planetary Missions Division at the European Space Agency (ESA), will discuss the many challenges -- from the need for greater accuracy in flight path predictions (to keep the lander from missing the comet completely) to the small possibility that the comet, like a flatulent frat boy, might suddenly belch out a gassy plume that could induce a disturbing torque on Rosetta's attitude.

With that in mind, Accomazzo will discuss these technical issues and how the flight team plans to overcome them during a special edition of EE Times Radio on Friday, Oct. 17. The show starts at 2:00 EDT (11:00 a.m. PDT).
