
HR Startup Rankmi Wins IE Venture Day Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES, September 21, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
IE Venture Day Los Angeles brought together the local Los Angeles startup community of incubators, accelerators, entrepreneurs, students, and business people. Rankmi, a SaaS platform that uses HR data to provide insight that help managers drive business results was the winner of the IE Venture Day startup competition.

The event was organized by IE Business School (http://www.ie.edu/business) in partnership with UCLA Anderson School of Management (http://www.anderson.ucla.edu ) and Berklee College of Music (http://www.berklee.edu ), and sponsored by Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp, LLP and Alan Larsen Films. The day's activities included discussion of various aspects of the local startup environment, including entrepreneurship in the entertainment industry; a startup "pitch-off" competition; and networking opportunities.
The keynote address was delivered by Keyvan Peymani, Managing Director, Digital Strategy Division at ICM Partners, one of the largest talent and literary agencies in the world. Other speakers included Nimish Patel, Vice Chairman of Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp, LLP and David Perry, CEO of Gaikai, a Sony Computer Entertainment America company.
The pitch-off competition was judged by local investors and business experts including George Abe, Faculty Director, Strategic Management Research Program, UCLA Anderson School of Management; Buck Jordan, Founder, Canyon Creek Capital; Dave Mathews, CEO and Founder, NewAer; Richard Morganstern, Executive Committee, Tech Coast Angels Los Angeles Network; and Matthew Pierce, Founder and CEO, O Labs. The winners of that competition are:
- 1st Place: Rankmi, a SaaS platform that uses HR data to deliver insights back to managers to help them excel and drive business results (http://www.rankmi.com)
- 2nd Place: Petsnap, a digital health records storage and management platform for pet owners
- 3rd Place: Pick a Basket, fresh local ingredients and recipes delivered to customers for them to prepare
- Honorable Mention: Sun Shield (http://www.the-sunshield.com), a sunscreen dispenser
