Hubble Telemedical Welcomes Healthcare Visionary Jonathan Lord, M.D. to Its Board of Directors

KNOXVILLE, Tenn., Sept. 10, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Hubble Telemedical, the leading provider of remote retinal eye exams using telemedicine, today announced the appointment of Jonathan "Jack" Lord, M.D. to the company's Board of Directors.  Dr. Lord currently serves as chairman of Dexcom and is a director at Stericycle, Mako Surgical, and Vigilant Biosciences, as well as an advisor to Serco PLC, Anthelio Health, Qualcomm mHealth, and Third Rock Ventures.

Dr. Lord was most recently the chief operations officer of University of Miami Health System and chief executive officer of Navigenics. Before that, he spent nearly a decade with Humana, initially as chief medical officer and then as chief clinical strategy and innovation officer. While at Humana, he led the company's efforts to make Humana a leader in e-health by using technology to build consumer-centered benefit plans and to improve clinical management. He created Humana's Innovation Center, and led the company's efforts using advanced analytics to predict who will become ill in the future and how to prevent disease. Immediately before joining Humana, Lord was president of Health Dialog, one of the first to provide health information to consumers over the internet.  Previously, he was chief operating officer of the American Hospital Association; executive vice president of Anne Arundel Medical Center; and executive president for clinical affairs at SunHealth Alliance. He spent 11 years in the Navy, ultimately as director of the Naval Medical Command's quality assurance division in the Office of the Surgeon General.  Dr. Lord serves or has served on numerous prestigious boards and organizations, including the CDC's Advisory Committee to the Director; the National Advisory Council for Healthcare Research and Quality, which advises the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services; and the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.  Dr. Lord is a board-certified forensic pathologist, having earned his bachelor of science and medical doctor degrees from the University of Miami, as well as certificates in governance and board audit from the Harvard Business School.
