Ortiz joins Huntington's executive leadership team and will lead the bank's audit organization
COLUMBUS, Ohio, Oct. 14, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The Huntington National Bank ("Huntington") today announced the promotion of David Ortiz to Chief Auditor, effective Nov. 1, 2025. Ortiz succeeds Michael Van Treese, who has been named AML (Anti-Money Laundering) Chief Administrative Officer. Ortiz will join Huntington's executive leadership team and will report to Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Steve Steinour and to the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors.
"I am thrilled to welcome David to the executive team and into this critical role," Steinour said. "He is a proven leader with deep expertise in financial controls and enterprise risk. I also commend and thank Michael for her contributions. Over the past five years, she has led our audit function through a period of growth and transformation, against the backdrop of a dynamic external environment, and is well suited to elevate our BSA/AML efforts."
Ortiz joined Huntington in 2022 as a segment risk officer for the commercial bank. He previously served in credit and risk management roles at BMO and the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. In his most recent role as Deputy Chief Risk Officer, he spearheaded a number of transformational initiatives designed to re-imagine Huntington's enterprise risk program to address the evolving regulatory environment and scalable growth of the organization.
Prior to his risk management roles, Ortiz spent 18 years in institutional investment and credit management. In 2009, Ortiz founded Beacon Ridge Capital Management, a certified, minority-owned investment firm and registered investment advisor. In 2020, he was named to the business publication Negocios Now's list of the "50 Most Influential Latinos" for the Chicago area. He holds a Finance degree from Miami University, an MBA from the University of Chicago, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
