TORRANCE, Calif., March 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Animal Emergency Medical Center (AEMC) is the first veterinary facility to install a new veterinary small animal hyperbaric oxygen chamber in the city of Torrance, California.
AEMC incorporates multiple specialty services including internal medicine, surgery, and now hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT). With their belief in the optimum medical care for all animals, AEMC recognizes HBOT may achieve such results when applied readily in early stages.
HBOT was first recognized in human medicine and now has expanded into veterinary medicine producing the same positive results. It is a safe, painless and often life-changing treatment now used for pets. When pets are in the hyperbaric chamber the increased pressure causes the blood plasma and other liquids of the body to absorb much larger quantities of oxygen, greatly increasing oxygen uptake by the cells, tissues, glands, organs, brain and all fluids of the body. This becomes a "goldmine" of oxygen accelerating healing dramatically and assisting in conditions where there is an oxygen deficit.
