Hyundai and Hyundai Hope on Wheels Donate $150,000 to Children's Hospital of Savannah for Child Passenger Safety and Pediatric Cancer Support

• Hyundai Hope contributes $50,000 to advance child passenger safety education and resources

SAVANNAH, Ga., Sept. 21, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Hyundai Hope, the corporate social responsibility initiative of Hyundai Motor America, and Hyundai Hope on Wheels, a national nonprofit dedicated to supporting families affected by childhood cancer, announced a combined donation of $150,000 to Memorial Health Dwaine and Cynthia Willett Children's Hospital of Savannah. The funding will support local child passenger safety programs and pediatric cancer initiatives that benefit children and families throughout coastal Georgia. The region is home to Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA), Hyundai Motor Group's dedicated electric vehicle manufacturing facility in Bryan County, Georgia.

Hyundai Hope first partnered with Children's Hospital of Savannah in 2022 to support injury prevention and child passenger safety efforts through Safe Kids Savannah, a coalition focused on reducing preventable childhood injuries. Including this year's contribution, Hyundai has donated $175,000 to support child passenger safety education, car seat inspection events, and driver safety initiatives.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, nearly half of all car seats and booster seats are used or installed incorrectly. Proper use of age- and size-appropriate restraints can reduce the risk of fatal injury by 71 percent for infants and 54 percent for children ages 1 to 4.

Hyundai's donation will help expand the hospital's Child Passenger Safety Program, which provides car seat inspections and education to families across the community. Certified child passenger safety technicians ensure car seats are installed correctly and evaluate them for recalls, expiration dates, and proper fit to help reduce the risk of injury. Families in need of replacement seats are also able to receive a new one.

Hyundai Hope on Wheels presented a $100,000 grant to support pediatric cancer programs at Children's Hospital of Savannah. For the past 28 years, Hyundai Hope on Wheels has funded research, treatment, and care programs dedicated to improving outcomes for children facing cancer. To date, the organization has donated over $300 million to pediatric cancer institutions across the United States.

The event concluded with Hyundai Hope on Wheels' signature Handprint Ceremony, where pediatric cancer patients, healthcare providers, families, community partners, and Hyundai representatives placed their handprints on a Hyundai vehicle. The ceremony serves as a visible reminder of the shared commitment to advancing pediatric cancer care and supporting children in their cancer journeys.
